Hello everyone!
So I'm in major need of a release! Obviously, we were ordered not to have intercourse until after 6 weeks, but wondering if masturbating is ok? Has anyone asked this question to their doctors?

I’m just gonna go out on a limb here and say you should wait several weeks for this activity too. Any kind of stimulation that can cause an orgasm will also cause uterus contractions. I can’t imagine that would feel good with your incision healing. The outside heals quicker than the inside so just keep that in mind. That being said, many people don’t even wait the full 6 weeks after a vaginal delivery for intercourse. A lot of it is up to how you feel but the risk for infection is obviously much higher the sooner you resume any of that stuff.

Especially if you labored pre-surgery, nothing should be inserted postpartum since you run the risk of infection as cervix is still open.
If you’re not using insertion, you’re probably okay. Like PP said, you may have uterine cramping but I can’t imagine it’s any different than the ones you get breastfeeding.Advertisement | page continues below
Oh my lord, I'm about to jump my hubs... I told him the day I get released to do stuff again he better have condoms ready cause he wont be able to walk straight for a few days... I am so with you on needing a release. We plan on possibly some very heavy petting after I'm done bleeding but nothing until inside until I'm released from doc to have intercourse.
