Get ready for a thrilling ride as Paramount Pictures and Walter Hamada's 18Hz Productions team up once again! The horror genre is about to get a major boost with this exclusive multi-year deal.
Walter Hamada, a genre producer extraordinaire, has proven his mettle with New Line's blockbuster horror series, Stephen King's It, and DC's The Batman. With a global box office haul of over $1.18 billion for It alone, Hamada's track record speaks for itself. But here's where it gets controversial...
Hamada's journey with Paramount began in November 2022, following his successful stint at Warner Bros. as the head of DC Films and New Line Productions. And this is the part most people miss: Hamada's expertise lies in crafting low-to-mid budget horror films that deliver big-time scares.
His upcoming slate at Paramount includes the highly anticipated Primate, set to release on January 9th. Directed by Johannes Roberts and written by Roberts and Ernest Riera, Primate promises a terrifying tale of survival. A group of friends' tropical getaway takes a dark turn, and their vacation becomes a primal fight for survival. Hamada produces alongside John Hodges and Bradley Pilz, with an impressive cast including Johnny Sequoyah, Jessica Alexander, and Troy Kotsur.
But wait, there's more! 18Hz's feature lineup has some exciting projects in store. An untitled horror film directed by André Øvredal, with a script by Zachary Donohue and T.W. Burgess, is sure to send shivers down your spine. Familiar, directed by Caye Casas, and Suffer Little Children, directed and written by Rodrigue Huart, are also in the works. Suffer Little Children is a reimagining of the cult classic Spanish horror film Who Can Kill a Child?, with a secret plot that's sure to keep audiences guessing.
So, what do you think? Are you excited for these upcoming horror projects? Do you think Hamada's low-budget approach will deliver the scares we crave? Let's discuss in the comments and share our thoughts on this exciting partnership!
