Other strength modalities (e.g., Clubs), mixed strength modalities (e.g., combined kettlebell and barbell), other goals (flexibility)

The only one I would not train anymore (but would be willing to throw a few lbs on a bar and play around) is seated behind the neck press.
I usually do them standing.
Can't really snatch or overhead squat if one can't BTN neck press.

I can do em alright flexibility wise, but doing em seated is a bit different, and then loading em up heavy...there are other options.

If I'm going real heavy, I push press them.

Tough to push press if you're doing em seated.

It's the one weird trick that trainers hate

His 5 are:
1. Deadlift
2. Behind the neck lat pulldown
3. Dumbbell flyes
4. Bench press
5. Front delt raises
Behind the neck lat pulldowns and pull-ups were never something my shoulders liked, but I got no problem w. the rest. I won't bother to watch the video.

A few 70yr olds doing deads at my gym. All of them look in much better shape than non weight lifting 70yr olds.

I thought BTN pull downs were considered sub-optimal, at any age, for muscle activation reasons?

Stopped doing them in college. Team Doc had a model of a shoulder and showed me how the joint runs out of space and starts smashing various bits and pieces during the motion.

Well, probably - they never did anything other than feel bad for me.

The "seated dumbbell lumbar raise" is close cousin of the seated good morning that @Boris Bachmann hates so much!
P.S. How does one injure one's wrist in a deadlift?

Ok, Jay Cutler stopped bench pressing because he thinks it’s bad. Don’s Doctor in college showed how the joint runs out of space doing behind the neck pull downs. That’s two out of the five. Now are dumbell flyes and front raises necessary. Perhaps the video should have said “
not optimal for men over 50” instead of
Stop Doing These Exercises / Men Over 50 Should Consider Stopping.I spotted a man at my gym that will be 82 this summer for 275lbs for a double, perfect reps. He is 6’2” and stands straighter than me. He knows it’s a world record but he’s not in the books. He was doing more last year but got bit by a tic and was very sick/ not Lyme.

Well, one time I was young and dumb. I hit a deadlift PR - 3 plates! I was stoked so I slammed the bar down on the floor. The plates were crum bumpers. Something physics-y happened. It messed my wrist up for weeks.

Front raises are unnecessary if you’re pressing.
Flyes are worthy

It was like when you jam your thumb in basketball... except more painful and lasted longer. That's when I learned - celebrate differently.
